Welcome to the Bay of Plenty SharePoint User Group Site

Welcome to the Bay of Plenty SharePoint User Group site, which is fondly known as BOPSPUG. The BOPSPUG is free to attend and it meets the third Thursday of each month at the envisionIT offices.

The purpose of this user group is to bring the local SharePoint community together to share tips, tricks, and ideas on the uses of WSS and MOSS. The user group features SharePoint experts from Microsoft, Microsoft Partners, and the SharePoint user community. The user group is targeted towards end users, administrators, implementers, project managers, business analysts and developers. The very technical sessions will be moved to the already established .NET User Group, keeping this forum with more of a business focus.

We will have a topic for each meeting but we also want to encourage members to bring their own topics to the forum. Our meetings will be informal so there will be plenty of opportunity to chat with other members both before and after each session. Pizza and drinks will be provided.

In this session, Debbie will demonstrate two very useful third-party tools:

·         SharePartXXL Taxonomy Extension – a business classification and taxonomy tool that allows documents to be grouped cross-site. This functionality is outside SharePoint’s standard capabilities. This tool also eliminates the need for some metadata fields and helps enforce standards across an organisation.

·         OnePlaceMail – allows emails and their attachments to be uploaded from Outlook directly into a SharePoint document library. This tool connects to multiple document libraries and allows you select a content type and enter metadata values at the time of uploading an email.
