An event with a difference this month at the Christchurch SharePoint User Group – we are having a series of brief presentations that illustrate the use of SharePoint in intranets. The presentations are to be made by representatives from local organisations who are using SharePoint as a business tool - thanks very much to them for “volunteering” their time and knowledge! We will also have a case study or two from a vendor on software for integrating multifunction devices with SharePoint.

Looking forward to April, we are hosting a speaker from the USA. Michael Noel is visiting us to give a talk about “Building the Perfect SharePoint Farm – A Walkthrough of Best Practices from the Field”. The date for this meeting will be April 16th (please note that this is a Thursday rather than the customary “last Tuesday of the month”). Michael is the author of several books including “Microsoft SharePoint 2007 Unleashed”, an MVP, and a regular public speaker internationally (he talked at Tech-Ed 2008 in Auckland). All in all, this meeting will be a great opportunity to learn from a renowned technical presenter.

Show Us Your Intranet
Here’s your chance to learn how some local organisations are using SharePoint in their business. We’ve seen demonstrations on what can be achieved with SharePoint out-of-the-box, and through the use of third party tools; at this presentation we will be seeing real world usage of the platform.
Come and gain tips from your industry peers. Find out what worked for them. And perhaps what didn’t – there’s much to be learnt from “war stories”!
